Parts of We
Marriage Counseling In Winter Park, FL
My Approach
We use a method called Internal Family Systems to explore each others feelings, thoughts, and emotions. This experiential therapy works to break down the roadblocks that couples experience. The average couple waits 6 years to seek help. By then their hearts have hardened and it may seem hopeless. Internal Family Systems works towards opening back up to your partner when it feels safe to do so. It works on focusing inside each individual and creating a more peaceful interaction with yourself. Whatever comes of your relationship, you will be able to hold onto yourself and feel more peace inside with this approach. We work towards clearing out the beliefs that get you stuck about your partner and about yourself. Once this happens with both individuals, you experience the love you always wanted.
How We Start
When you book your consultation we will get a chance to know each other and see if this will be a good fit for you and your partner. Sessions are available online or in person based on which method fits your needs best. Feel free to ask me any questions about the therapeutic process or any concerns you have.
During our first session we will explore what problems you both are facing with each other, a little about your relationship history, and what you would both like for the future of your relationship.
Once we have explored these concerns we will work towards internally addressing them and then safely going to what’s at the root of the problem and embark on a healing process for both of your inner systems. When couples can both experience this, they are able to come closer together and resolve issues in a healthy way.
Winter Park Marriage Counseling FAQs
How will Internal Family Systems therapy help my relationship?
IFS is one of the few therapy treatments that doesn’t just look at the relationship itself but both individuals in the relationship. Rarely do we look at what’s going on within each of you as you interact with each other. As we do this exploration you may gain more insight as to why your partner stonewalls, or why they get so angry. Not only that, but you will gain a new perspective about yourself. I have found this the most helpful because it allows both individuals to make their own decisions and leave with a benefit no matter the status of the relationship.
What can I expect at the end of therapy?
At the end of treatment you will be able to regulate your emotions better and address internal and external problems in a healthier way. My clients report feeling lighter and more at peace with themselves and their inner critics. They can move forward living a purposeful life and practice what they learned in therapy.
